The Nebraska Veterinary Medical Association is recognized as the voice for veterinary medicine in the state of Nebraska. Founded in 1896, the NVMA now represents the interests of more than 800 members.
The organization’s stated mission is to “promote animal health, public safety, and human-animal relationships. To accomplish that mission, the NVMA provides its members with opportunities to network with other veterinarians in their area and around the state. The NVMA retains a lobbyist at the State Capitol to advocate for issues that are important to veterinary professionals, and to give veterinary professionals a voice on animal health and welfare issues.
NVMA members can take advantage of educational and professional development opportunities, including the annual conference in January and the summer conference in June, as well as several events throughout the year. The NVMA website has an interactive calendar of events, news updates, and job listings for members. The NVMA Centennial Scholarship Foundation supports scholarship funds to benefit veterinary students from Nebraska. More information about the NVMA is available at www.nvma.org.
